Nurses in the Perioperative setting often do not have experience caring for pregnant patients undergoing a surgical procedure, be it a scheduled Cesarean Section, a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, or others. It is important for the perioperative nurse to have at least a basic knowledge of electronic fetal monitoring especially anything that might indicate fetal distress leading to possible harm (or death) for the unborn infant.
