This session presents the legal implications when the ambulatory surgery nurse discharges the pediatric adult patients to home. Key legal aspects to be covered are the duty the PACU nurse has to the patient/family/caregiver in preparing and discharging from home, the risk associated with anesthesia and surgery, medication reconciliation, the continuity of care, and patient family satisfaction.
