The older adult often presents with complex health issues that impact perioperative and postoperative management. This session reviews geriatric syndromes such as frailty and neurocognitive impairment as well as social determinants of health for the older adult. Assessment and risk mitigation strategies to optimize surgical outcomes and post anesthesia recovery are discussed.
