This session will explain why the subject of substance use disorders is important to perianesthesia nursing so they may recognize that they are at high risk. This session will advocate for improved education, training, and support for perianesthesia nurses so they may see help before becoming impaired. How to develop the most progressive policies and return-to-duty programs for perianesthesia nurses who are experiencing challenges related to behavioral health/substance use will also be presented.
