#401 Expect the Unexpected: Vigilant Perianesthesia Nursing Care

Perianesthesia nurses must be vigilant in their assessment and monitoring of patients to ensure patient safety throughout the perianesthesia care continuum. This session will provide a broad overview of the phases of perianesthesia nursing care from preoperative to discharge. Using a case study approach, examples of the impact of vigilant perianesthesia care on early identification and timely intervention of unexpected potential and actual anesthesia and surgical/procedural related complications are explored.
