So often nurses are faced with a situation that could end up having legal consequences or expose them to being named as a co-defendant in a malpractice lawsuit. These situations could appear to be so simple and innocent, like witnessing a signature on consent, to something more egregious like administering the wrong medication or treatment. Add to that the fast-paced atmosphere of the perianesthesia setting, and that could lead to legal disasters.
