Thankfully most patients have a smooth and stable transition from pre-op, to OR, to PACU and beyond. Occasionally, however, a patient may have a cardiac arrhythmia or event that may require anything from a simple intervention to an immediate action and/ or treatment. This is when the bedside nurse must recollect ACLS arrhythmia algorithms and protocols, use critical thinking, and implement sound nursing actions and interventions.
